WAQAF

Bilingual (EN/AR) printing

Choose English or Arabic for each document you print — receipts, vouchers and reports — independently of the language you use the app in.

Almost everything in WAQAF follows the language you signed in with — switch the app to Arabic and the whole dashboard flips to Arabic, right-to-left. Printed finance documents are the one deliberate exception. The donation receipt, the payment voucher and every finance report carry their own per-print language toggle, so you can keep working in English and still hand a donor an Arabic receipt, or the other way round.

When you flip the toggle, the document's labels and its text direction change together — right-to-left for Arabic, left-to-right for English — and the printout uses the language you picked, regardless of which language the rest of the app is in. The toggle is a per-document choice, not a saved setting: it starts on the language you are currently using and you only flip it when you need the other language for that one document.

Who can do this. Printing follows whoever can open the document. To open a receipt or a voucher you need a finance role with read access — typically the Accountant, Finance Manager, Auditor or CEO. Reports are similarly gated by your finance role. Choosing the document language itself needs no special permission: if you can see the document, you can flip its language. If you can't reach a document at all, your role doesn't allow it; see Members & roles.

How the language toggle works

On the receipt dialog, the voucher's action bar and the report toolbar you'll find the same pair of buttons — English and العربية. The one that's highlighted is the language the document will print in.

Open the document

Open a donation receipt, a payment voucher, or a finance report (see Printing receipts, vouchers & reports for where each one lives).

Pick the print language

Press English or العربية. The on-screen preview redraws immediately: labels, column headers and the reading direction all change to match. Your choice applies only to this document.

Wait for the labels, then print

The Print (or Download) button stays disabled for a moment after you switch language while the chosen language's labels load. Once it's enabled, print as usual. The printout comes out in the language you selected.

The on-screen tables in the app stay in whatever language you are using the dashboard in. The per-print toggle only controls the printed document — so you can review a report on screen in English and print it in Arabic without changing your app language.

Signatory names appear in the chosen language

Vouchers and reports carry two signature blocks — a Finance Manager and a CEO — filled by the two members your organisation has designated as its document signatories (see The letterhead system). Each designated signatory has both an English name and an Arabic name, and the printed document shows the name that matches the print language: the Arabic spelling when you print in Arabic, the English spelling when you print in English.

The Arabic spelling comes from that person's own account. To make sure your name appears correctly on Arabic documents, add an Arabic spelling under Settings → Account in the Your name section. This matters most for the people who will be designated signatories.

If a designated signatory hasn't added an Arabic name, the Arabic printout simply falls back to their English name — it never prints blank. The same goes the other way: a signatory who is set but has no signature image just shows the role label above an empty line for a handwritten signature. If a signature block is missing entirely, check that the Finance Manager and CEO signatories have been designated in the letterhead settings.

The signature blocks always show the designated Finance Manager and CEO — not whoever happened to approve the underlying expense. Even when a Finance Manager approves a voucher on the CEO's behalf, the printed voucher carries the designated CEO's name; the in-app activity timeline still records who actually acted. Donation receipts carry no signatures at all.

Fund and category names follow the language too

Funds and expense categories are stored with both an English and an Arabic name. When you print a report in Arabic, the section titles and fund names render in Arabic — for example the Zakat fund prints as الزكاة — and the column headers follow suit. On a voucher or receipt, the category column also switches to the Arabic name when you print in Arabic.

The built-in funds (Zakat, Sadaqah, Waqf Principal, Waqf Returns, General) ship with Arabic names already set. A custom fund or category created without an Arabic name falls back to its English name on Arabic printouts — add its Arabic name to fix that. The numbers themselves are unchanged: amounts are always shown in Omani Rial to three decimals (for example 200.000), in both languages.

A quick reference

  • The toggle is per document, not a setting. It starts on your current app language each time you open a document, so flip it only when you need the other language for that one printout.
  • English / العربية changes the labels, the reading direction, signatory names, and fund and category names — all at once.
  • Names and fund names depend on the Arabic spelling being set. If an Arabic name is blank, the document quietly falls back to the English name rather than leaving a gap.
  • Receipts never carry signatures; vouchers and reports always do. A blank signature block means a signatory hasn't been designated, or hasn't uploaded a signature image.
