Programs

Create and edit the programmes your projects roll up to — the themes shown across your public site.

Programs are the themes your work is organised under — Water, Orphans, Education, Emergency Relief, and so on. They are the ongoing headings that individual projects roll up to: a "Build a well in Sohar" project belongs to your "Water" programme. Programmes appear across your public site as the top-level way visitors browse what you do.

Programmes look and behave much like projects, but they are deliberately simpler. A programme is a long-running theme, not a single fundraising campaign — so it has no funding target, no price tiers, no transparency breakdown and no gallery. Use a programme when you want a standing category that several projects sit beneath; use a project for a specific, often time-limited, initiative that raises money. This page covers creating a new programme, filling in its content, controlling how it appears, and publishing it.

Who can do this. You need a site role that grants create and update — typically the Site Manager or Site Editor. Publishing and deleting need extra permissions that only the Site Manager holds (a Site Editor can create and edit drafts but cannot publish or delete). If you don't see the buttons described here, your role doesn't allow it; see Members & roles.

Where to find it. Your website → Programs in the dashboard sidebar.

Creating a programme

A new programme starts life as a draft — only its slug and name are required up front. You fill in everything else afterwards in the editor.

Open the Programs page

From the dashboard sidebar, go to Your website → Programs. You'll see a card for each programme you already have, with a search box and a count at the top.

Start a new programme

Select New program (top right). A short form appears asking for the bare minimum to create a draft.

Enter the slug and name

  • Slug — the web address fragment for this programme, e.g. water-program. Use lowercase letters, numbers and single hyphens only. Choose it carefully: the slug cannot be changed later.
  • Name — the programme's name in both English and Arabic. Both are required.

Each slug must be unique on your site. If you pick one that's already used, you'll see "A program with this slug already exists" — choose a different slug.

Create the draft

Select Create. The programme is saved as an unpublished draft and appears in the list. Nothing is live on your public site yet — that happens when you publish.

Editing a programme

Open a programme's card and select Edit to open the full editor. It's split into two collapsible sections.

Basics

This is the content visitors read on the programme page. The slug is shown here for reference but cannot be edited.

  • Name — the programme heading, in English and Arabic.
  • Short blurb — a one- or two-line summary used in listings and cards.
  • Description — the longer body text shown on the programme's own page.

Fill in both languages for each field. Select Save at the bottom of the section when you're done.

Display

This section controls how the programme appears on your site.

  • Icon — an optional icon name (e.g. droplet) shown next to the programme.
  • Sort order — a whole number that orders programmes on the site; lower numbers appear first.
  • Visible on the site — a toggle. When off, the programme stays unlisted even after you publish it.
  • Cover image — an optional image for the programme page header. Upload one here.

Select Save to keep your changes.

The editor has a Save button in each section, but both save the whole programme — so saving from either section keeps all your changes. There's no separate "publish" step inside the editor; publishing is done from the list, below.

Publishing, hiding and ordering

Publishing and visibility are handled from the programme's card on the Programs list, not inside the editor.

Publish or unpublish

On a programme's card, select Publish to make it live, or Unpublish to take it back to draft. A draft programme is never shown on your public site.

Hide a programme

A programme marked Visible on the site in the editor's Display section is shown; turn that toggle off to keep it unlisted even while it's published. Hidden programmes show a Hidden label on their card.

Reorder programmes

Set the Sort order number in the Display section. Programmes with a lower number appear earlier in lists across your site.

A programme only appears to the public when all three conditions are met: your site is published, the programme is published, and the programme is set to visible. The preview link on the card is only available once all three are true.

Deleting a programme

You can remove a programme you no longer need — but check what's linked to it first.

Select Delete

On the programme's card, select Delete, then confirm.

Linked projects are detached, not deleted

If any projects belong to this programme, the confirmation tells you how many — for example "Delete this program? 3 projects will be unlinked." Those projects are not deleted; they simply lose their programme link and become unassigned. You can reassign them to another programme afterwards.

A project chooses its programme in the project editor, not here. Deleting a programme never deletes a project or any donations — it only removes the grouping. If a project's donations route through the programme's income category, re-check that project's category after unlinking.

The Programs landing page

The cards above are the individual programmes. The Programs page itself — the banner and intro visitors see when they open the programmes section of your site — is edited separately, under Your website → Programs page. There you set the page's hero title, intro text and banner image in both languages. See Editing your pages for how page content editing works.
