SEO settings
Set your site's name, search-result description, and social-share image so it appears well in search engines and when shared.
SEO settings control how your website presents itself to search engines and to social-media platforms. From one place you set the name your site shows in browser tabs and search results, the short sentence that describes it, and the picture that appears when someone shares a link to your site. It's worth setting these once when you first build your site, and revisiting them whenever your organisation's name or focus changes.
Who can do this. Anyone with a site role can open this page, but to save changes you need a site role that grants update on SEO — typically the Site Manager or Site Editor. A Site Viewer can look but the Save button won't appear. If you can't reach the page at all, your role doesn't include the website module; see Members & roles.
Where to find it. Website → Settings → SEO (the older Website → SEO link still works — it brings you to the same place).
What you can set here
This page has three settings, and that's deliberate — they're the ones that matter most and the rest is handled for you automatically. You'll find:
- Website name — the name shown in the browser tab and as your site's name in search results.
- Tagline — a short sentence describing your site, used as the default search-result description.
- Social share image — the picture shown when one of your pages is shared on social media.
Each text field has an English side and an Arabic side, so your site reads correctly to visitors in either language.
Setting your SEO details
Open the SEO tab
Go to Website in the dashboard, open Settings, then choose SEO from the menu on the side. If your organisation hasn't created a website yet, you'll be asked to create one first — see Creating your site.
Enter your website name
Fill in the Website name in both English and Arabic. This is what visitors see in their browser tab and what search engines show as your site's title.
If you leave it empty, your site falls back to your organisation's name, so it's safe to leave blank if your organisation name is already what you'd want shown.
Write your tagline
Add a Tagline — one short sentence that describes what your organisation does. Search engines use this as the description beneath your site's title in their results, and it's also used as the default description when a page of yours has none of its own.
Keep it natural and informative rather than a list of words. A line like "Caring for orphans and families in need across Oman" reads far better in a search result than a string of keywords.
Upload a social share image
Under Social share image, drag in (or click to choose) the picture you'd like to appear when someone shares a link to your site on social media. A landscape image around 1200×630 pixels works best. Accepted formats are PNG, JPG, and WebP.
This image is used whenever a shared page doesn't have its own cover image, so it's a good fallback to set even if individual projects and news posts carry their own pictures.
Save
Select Save. You'll see a confirmation that your SEO settings were saved. The changes apply to your live site — there's no separate publish step for these settings.
Search engines update on their own schedule. Once you've saved, your site is correct straight away, but search engines like Google revisit and re-index sites in their own time — it can be days before an updated title or description shows up in their results. There's nothing more you need to do; the new details are already live for anyone who visits or shares your pages.
These settings are your site's defaults, not per-page overrides. The tagline and social-share image here apply across your site and step in wherever an individual page hasn't set its own. Each project, programme, or news post can carry its own cover image and description, which take priority when that specific page is shared. To change how one page looks, edit that page rather than these site-wide defaults.
