Finance settings
The home for your organisation's finance reference data — members, vendors, places, Shariah rules, balance privacy, and signatories.
Finance settings is where you keep the reference data that the rest of Finance relies on: the people you pay and record income against, the vendors and payees you spend with, the countries and cities your work reaches, the Shariah rules for Zakat and Waqf, who is allowed to see balance figures, and who signs your official documents. You'll come here when you're setting Finance up for the first time, and again whenever any of that information changes.
Think of it as the quiet backstage area: nothing here moves money on its own. Instead, the lists and rules you maintain here are what appear in the dropdowns, validations and printed documents everywhere else in Finance. Getting them right once saves you correcting them on every receipt and voucher afterwards.
Who can do this. Anyone with a finance role that grants read — the Accountant, Finance Manager, Auditor or CEO — can open Finance settings and look around. Most of the editing, though, needs a finance role with update (typically the Accountant or Finance Manager), and a few sensitive areas — balance privacy, signatories and the Zakat & Waqf rules — need the approve capability held by the Finance Manager and CEO. If a tab is missing for you, your role simply doesn't reach it; that's by design, not a fault. See Members & roles.
Where to find it. Finance → Settings. A sub-menu down the inline-start edge switches between the areas; whatever your role can't edit just won't appear in that menu.
What lives here
Each area below is its own article. Open the one you need.
Charity members
The people you record income against and pay — staff, beneficiaries and other named individuals.
Vendors & payees
The suppliers and payees you raise payment vouchers to, kept as a reusable list.
Countries & cities
The places your work reaches, used to tag income and expenses for reporting.
Shariah rules
How Zakat and Waqf categories behave — protecting Waqf principal and requiring a masaref for Zakat.
Balance privacy
Which roles may see actual balance figures, and which see only whether there's enough to spend.
Signatories & approval chain
The people whose names and signatures appear on your official receipts and vouchers.
Looking for receipt and voucher appearance? How your printed documents look — which details show, the QR verification badge, and the bilingual print options — lives under Documents & printing, not here. Finance settings holds the data on those documents; Documents & printing controls how it's displayed.
Nothing in Finance settings posts to the ledger, but the data here still has weight. A member or vendor you create can be referenced by recorded income and paid vouchers, and a Shariah rule you change applies to new vouchers from that point on — it never rewrites what's already posted. Edit deliberately, and read the individual article before changing a rule that affects how money may be spent.
