Getting help

Where to turn when you're stuck — this Help Center, the in-app AI assistant, and your organisation's Owner or Admin for anything to do with permissions.

Everyone gets stuck now and then. Maybe a step isn't going the way you expected, a button you were told about isn't there, or you just want to understand how something works before you touch it. This page gathers the places you can turn to — and, just as usefully, helps you tell apart the few different kinds of "stuck" so you head to the right one first.

Who can do this. Anyone can use everything on this page — reading the Help Center, asking the AI assistant, and requesting help are open to every member, whatever your role. The one thing only an Owner or Org Admin can do for you is change your role; you can ask, but you can't do it yourself. See Members & roles.

Start here: this Help Center

These guides are the first place to look. They walk through every task in the WAQAF dashboard, click by click, and each one tells you who can do it and where to find it.

  • Search. Use the search box at the top of any page to jump straight to a task — type what you're trying to do ("record income", "print a receipt", "invite a colleague") and pick the closest result.
  • Browse by area. From the home page you can open any of the main sections — Finance, Donors, Your website, Members & roles, and the rest — and read through a section in order.
  • Switch language. Everything is available in English and العربية. Use the language menu to switch at any time; see Switching language.

If you've read a guide and the screen still doesn't match — a button it describes simply isn't there for you — that's very often a role matter rather than a fault. Read Why can't I see a button? before assuming anything is broken.

The in-app AI assistant

If your organisation has it enabled, the dashboard includes an AI Chatbot — you'll find it in the sidebar, marked with a small robot icon. It's a general-purpose assistant: you can ask it to explain a concept, draft a message, or talk through how you might approach something, much like any chat assistant.

There's one important thing to understand about it, so you're never surprised:

The AI assistant is general-purpose and has no access to your organisation's data. It cannot see your donations, balances, members, or any record in your WAQAF — and it cannot make changes for you. Treat it as a knowledgeable helper for general questions and drafting, not as a way to look up a figure or perform a task. For anything involving your own records, use the dashboard itself or these guides.

Asking your Owner or Admin

Some things genuinely aren't yours to change — and that's by design. The most common one is permissions: what you can see and do is decided by your role, and only an Owner or Org Admin can adjust it. So if you need access to a feature your role doesn't grant, the quickest route is a short message to whoever runs your organisation, asking them to review your role.

This is also who to ask about anything organisation-wide: adding a new colleague, changing the organisation's profile or letterhead, or questions about your plan.

Which kind of "stuck" is this?

Most of the time, the thing that feels like a bug isn't one. Run through this before reporting a problem — it usually points you to the faster fix.

A suspected bug versus a permissions issue

It's worth knowing the difference, because it changes who you go to:

  • A permissions issue looks like: "I can't see Record income", or "there's no Approve button", or "a whole section is missing from my sidebar". The feature is working — your role simply doesn't reach it. The fix is a role change from your Owner or Org Admin, not a report. This is by far the most common case, so check Why can't I see a button? first.
  • A genuine bug looks like: something you can normally do suddenly errors, shows the wrong figure, or behaves in a way that doesn't match these guides. If you've ruled out a permissions cause and a guide confirms it should work, report it to your organisation's Owner or Admin with the details — what you did, what you expected, and what happened — so they can pass it on.

A quick rule of thumb: if the button or section is simply absent, suspect permissions first. If something that's normally there and working misbehaves, that's more likely a genuine fault worth reporting.
